Shannon is a passionate about music education and is highly specialised in teaching the violin and young children through a movement-based approach. She began playing the violin at age seven through a school program in Townsville, Queensland. At the age of seventeen she was accepted into the Queensland Conservatorium where she also performed as concertmaster for the Queensland Philharmonia. Shannon founded McIntosh Music studio in 2015 following her move to Melbourne. During this time, she studied at the Melbourne Conservatorium and completed certification in the Suzuki method for violin teaching.
Shannon has recently returned from spending two years in the UK working in schools and training in the Dalcroze approach. She is currently in the final stages of completing the Dalcroze certificate.
